Titanium Diboride is a hard material with a high wear resistance and high strength at elevated temperatures. The high density, combined with the high elastic modulus and high compressive strength, have lead to its use in armour components. It is resistant to most chemical reagents, and has excellent wettability and stability in liquid metals such as Aluminum and Zinc. This, combined with its high electric conductivity, has lead to its use in Hall- Héroult cells for Aluminum production. It has found uses as crucibles for molten metals.
